Faenorr are the result of experiments conducted by the colonists on New Horizon. At one time they were nothing more than fueno which were used in highly illegal DNA splicing and cybernetic adaptation experiments. The purpose of this experiment was to create a control group to study ways of providing lengthened life-spans and operational time for prometheans, who are known to eventually develop problems with their cybernetics and suffer radically shortened life-spans.
Laboratory tests have been performed on Fueno for decades, to improve the development of medicines, food products and cosmetics much like their earthly counterparts, rats. Fueno were selected primarily because their systems react to chemicals in a similar way to those of a human test subject.
Many years ago a group of scientists on New Chania started experimenting with Medean Splicing techniques performed on Fueno. They wanted to create a creature that, although not human, would behave similarly to a human anatomically. In their experiments, they were required to modify the Fueno with terrestrial DNA.
As part of the experiment, the Fueno were given a ‘loose genome’ to encourage possibly beneficial mutations. An unexpected mutation was the ability to integrate cybernetic implants on an almost instinctive level. The resulting subjects were the first generation of Faenorr.
When word of the experiments became public, the plug was pulled. The Faenorr escaped in the ensuing chaos, disappearing into the wilderness. To the horror of the researchers, reports of Faenorr-like creatures began surfacing worldwide within a manner of months. These creatures made use of technology discarded in trash heaps around the world to force their own evolution. Horror stories told of gangs of these creatures attacking prometheans and stripping their cybernetic parts.
Within three years of their escape, Faenor surfaced that showed signs of rudimentary intelligence and basic language skills. Some subspecies were reported to beg for their lives before being exterminated, and others were seen wearing rudimentary clothing.
Within ten years, Faenor had developed into a working society based around matriarchal clans. Their proximity to the underworld of many cities led to them integrating themselves into the shadier workings of civilization. Faenorr outside of their warrens often act as sneaks, smugglers, burglars, and assassins. In time Faenorr worked their way up from the bottom with several running their own underworld gangs.
Appearance
Faenorr are small humanoid creatures. They vary in height from about 3 to 4 feet and weigh around 40 lbs.
